Plein Air Workshop a Huge Success

Based on the glowing reviews from Master Jove Wang’s Tilghman Island Plein Air Workshop, it is safe to say that it was a huge success. Studio B Art Gallery hosted the Plein Air Workshop in Tilghman Island in October. Master Jove Wang is a highly sought-after, world-renowned artist, award-winning plein air painter, professor, and author. His career spans more than three decades. During his impressive career, he has received exceptional recognition and won numerous awards.
Jove’s theory in creating is that “a work of art must have soul.” His paintings are a visual accumulation of experience and artistic integration that create a powerful visual effect reflecting the soul of what he paints – whether it is a figure, landscape or still life. His spirit of freehand expression of realism made his artistic achievements on the level of mastery sought by many.
“October is the best month to be painting plein air on the Eastern Shore, ” said Betty Huang, artist and owner of Studio B. “It was an honor to have Jove, coming from Los Angeles, to teach us the critical principles, concepts, structures and form in painting and to make us think for ourselves. This is something I have not encountered in many of the workshops that I’ve taken with other artists. I find Jove’s teaching and encouragement so valuable in my growth as an artist. It was a great group of artists from different places with kindred spirits.”
Betty continued, “The weather was perfect and everywhere you turned was a view for a painting.”
Attending artists had this to say about the workshop:

Short, daily lectures focused heavily on the important aspects of good design and composition toward the creation of successful artwork,” explained Paul Deroo from Westfield, New Jersey.

I also feel more confidence in what I’m doing. Thank you to Jove for his generous teaching and critiques. It was much appreciated!”
Attending from Pennsylvania, Biruta Hansen said, “I think this workshop with Jove Wang was wonderful on many levels…Jove’s workshop fulfilled all my expectations. I learned a lot and set a new standard for myself of what to strive for in quality painting. It was an incredible privilege to have Master Jove speak to us from his heart. He has left an indelible impression on me.”
