The Workshop
Per-Student Cost (double-occupancy): $2,900
Non-Painting Guest: $2,400
*airfare not included
This workshop will cover composition and design, choosing subject matter, how to see, how to use light and shadow, color, and use atmospheric perspective to show distance, as well as new ideas for paint application and edges. Demos, critiques and lots of personal attention are included!!
Handouts and Supply list will be emailed well in advance. We will paint outdoors weather permitting, or in an indoor space provided.
Any medium is welcome, as long as you are experienced with it, though the demo will be in oil. If you want to use acrylics, I would suggest the “open” or slow drying kind unless you understand the fast drying regular acrylics . Watercolor and pastel are fine also, though you may have to alter one of the exercises we will do.
All levels are welcome.
The fee includes all art instruction, accommodation in a lovely private villa with a large pool and air conditioning not far from Florence; ALL meals and wine, including a private chef for dinners; and transportation to painting sites (includes San Gimignano!) and nearby and nearby hill towns. The workshop begins with a welcoming reception evening of September 1, 2018 in the private villa in the Chianti Region of Tuscany, Italy and ends the morning of September 8, 2018.
This Villa is located in the glorious hills of Montespertoli overlooking the ancient Castle of Montegufoni, in one of the most beautiful position in the area on top of a hill, surrounded by a ring of hills around. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, the Villa stands in panoramic position offering a magnificent view of the Tuscan countryside stretching as far as the eye can see. Away from the city, it stands between Florence, Pisa and Sienna. September is the best month to visit Tuscany and take advantage of its many wineries. The weather begins to cool while still remaining enjoyably warm, making it a great time of year to explore the countryside and vineyards.
